Meet Sydney Lark

About the Author
I was born in Fife and spent many years living on a farm in Saline, surrounded by horses, Irish Wolfhounds, beagles, and ducks. It was an idyllic life, with family all around, however it took an unexpected turn, when the opportunity to purchase a kennels and cattery in Evanton drew me and my family northwards to the Highlands. I settled 20 miles north of Inverness, where I ran a boarding kennels and cattery during the oil industry boom. The vibrant atmosphere, fuelled by arts and music, left a lasting impression.
As the boom faded, I sold up and moved away, but the Highlands called me back to the sleepy little hamlet of Arabella. I started working as a tree-planter, this reignited a passion for writing. During this time, I contributed to the local magazine The Tarbet Craic, infusing humour into stories about the local area.
Later, in my career I spent many years meeting colourful and creative characters. These experiences undoubtedly influenced my writing. The ever-changing Highland landscape and seasons continue to inspire the writing that I do, breathing life into my characters and stories.

Musical Meanderings
This was me playing Greek Cafe Bar many moons ago at the Ardross Hall, which was partially inspired by my travels to the Island of Kos, Greece.

My soiree into acting
This was me auditioning for a part in Highlander, with my two Irish wolfhounds (Huan and Clancy), unfortunately it was a short lived experience as I fell of the back of a lorry and broke my arm. However, I made it to the national media under 'Sad Syds Unlucky Break'.
Life itself is a journey, woven by the places we travel to and live, by the people we know and meet, by shared experiences and connection
